I led the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of data to monitor and evaluate national health promotion initiatives, ensuring sustained funding and continuous improvement through data-driven insights.I developed new evaluation plans, surveys, and reporting tools aligned with ParticipACTION’s new five-year strategic plan, enhancing our ability to capture actionable insights, particularly among equity-denied communities.Through targeted presentations, detailed progress reports, and dynamic dashboards, I effectively communicated the strengths and impacts of our initiatives to senior management, government funders, sponsors, partners, and advisory groups. By working across these diverse stakeholder groups, I ensured that our findings were not only understood but also drove meaningful change.

As a Research & Evaluation Associate, I strengthened the evaluation capacity of non-profits across Ontario serving youth in equity-denied communities. My role was integral to helping community-based grassroots programs measure and effectively communicate their positive impact on youth well-being.I facilitated consultation sessions with program leaders to create logic models, design evaluation plans, and implement tailored evaluation activities. I also led workshops for organizations including Tamarack Institute, Toronto District School Board (TDSB), Sunnybrook Hospital, and ArtReach Toronto to strengthen their evaluation practices. Engaging youth in evaluation activities and helping programs showcase their successes to stakeholders were the most rewarding parts of the role. As a Research Consultant for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), I evaluated Canadian Blind Hockey's new camp program. Working in-person this time around, I had the opportunity to learn from program facilitators, parents, and youth as they play on the ice. It was fulfilling to support the CNIB and CBH in expanding recreation and play opportunities for youth with sight loss across Canada.

Under the supervision of the VP of Research, I collaborated with CNIB community partners to prepare reports, social media campaigns, and recommendations to enhance advocacy initiatives directed at improving the health outcomes of youth with sight loss. Read about my 3 research projects below:1) I completed a retrospective cohort study to evaluate how participation in Canadian Blind Hockey (CBH) Camp programs impact the social well-being and physical activity behaviors of youth with sight loss.2) I developed a 5-week educational social media campaign to promote adventurous play to parents of youth with sight loss to support youth’s participation in physical activity. Limited literature has been published on this topic specific to youth with sight loss so I interviewed a wide range of CNIB stakeholders (including Paralympic athletes) to develop an engaging and well-informed resource.3) I conducted a needs assessment to ensure proposed recommendations of expanding the AODA to the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system support students with disabilities and their families (full report linked below).

I loved developing their passions in health equity, the social determinants of health, and health promotion (subject areas that made me interested in public health when I was entering my undergraduate program).

As the Supervisor of Creative Expressions Art Camp, I was responsible for designing and implementing engaging daily programming, managing budgets, and purchasing program supplies. I hired, onboarded, and provided ongoing mentorship to program delivery staff and student volunteers. I completed comprehensive month-long training sessions annually to support the physical, social, and mental well-being of 8 counsellors and 70 campers. I ensured a positive and supportive work environment by administering conflict resolution strategies and performing regular staff evaluations.I was proud to successfully introduce new daily activities and community events that improved camper engagement and satisfaction.

I instructed a 6-week-long “Leadership in Training” certification program designed to prepare young adults aged 13 to 18 for the workforce. My role involved delivering lesson plans and leading group activities focused on skills needed in the workplace, including resume writing and professional communication. I successfully guided students to achieve their personal development goals and gain employment and volunteer experiences with with City of Richmond Hill.

I facilitated a wide range of year-round camp programs, including Creative Expressions Art and Dance Camp, Sports Camp, and General Camps. In my role, I delivered daily programming to groups of 70+ youth aged 6 to 14 and facilitated community events. I also established positive front-line interactions with campers, community centre visitors, and parents to open lines of communication, improving camper satisfaction and enrollment.
