On behalf of wealthy overseas owners, managed the development of a private 60-acre country estate in Berkshire which included a Georgian house and other buildings. Also managed property rented out in London, employing local agents and service providers.Working closely with the owners, was responsible for the project management of the multi-million pound refurbishment of the house and estate; including re-landscaping the grounds, and construction of new outbuildings and an underground swimming pool, spa and gym. Helped secure planning approval for several contentious new structures through collaborating with the local district council and parish council.Also responsible for all operational matters, including the recruitment and management of the estate and house staff, the management of contractors and professional advisers, liaison with the local authorities/community, insurance, vehicles, wildlife/stock, security and all maintenance.Negotiated and managed the acquisition of further land and property to develop/expand the estate.Controlled and monitored property finances including overseeing payroll and producing monthly profit and loss reports.Originally took these over from one of the larger professional property management agents, resulting in significant savings.Generated £75k through auctions and private sales of entire contents of the Berkshire property.

France / Iceland

Eleven Experience is an international adventure travel company and the larger sister company to The Three Daggers (below) and is owned by the Chairman of one of the largest global real estate funds.Managed daily operations of this luxury ski lodge in the French Alps, looking after up to 14 international/UK clients, with full catering, spa, pool and 24-hour services, whilst creating and delivering bespoke adventure activity programmes, including heli-skiing and rafting.Seconded to Iceland to support and help manage the startup of a similar group business – providing the same services as France for celebrity and other high-end clients. Implemented new systems and controls to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Edington, Wiltshire

Responsible for four businesses on an estate owned by the Chairman of a global real estate fund who had purchased an Abby and estate, where he and his family lived when in the UK.These businesses included a gastropub with rooms, an up-market farm shop, an outdoor catering and events business and a microbrewery; all of which had a combined turnover of £1.3M and involved managing a team of some 40 staff.Also, managed the owner’s private estate and co-led the market garden and gardening teams.Increased revenue streams and turnover (from under £1m to £1.3m in under two years) and turned around what was a loss-making business through improved management and developing an events programme. This included corporate team building, weddings, an annual music festival, and other offsite events both locally and in London. Redesigned website, re-branded existing products and introduced new retail lines – whilst also extending sales of the brewery products into the London market.

Approached by Directors to return to manage this growing ski chalet business, which included managing all operations, sales and marketing, owner contracts, property maintenance, and company expenditure/budgets.Managed up to 40 quality properties, some of which could accommodate up to 16 people, and generated over £1m+ turnover p.a. Additional services included full catering, child care, spa and concierge desk. Recruited and led a team of 40 seasonal/permanent staff, looking after 250 guests a week.Increased website traffic through redesigning company website: wrote copy, optimised for SEO and managed Pay Per Click campaigns.Improved operational efficiency by implementing systems e.g. online property inventory database, housekeeping and maintenance department checklists. Resulted in maintenance programme being preventative rather than reactive.
