Where’s the magic in a successful program, project, or an idea in action? Communication, expectations, workflow? These are pieces, not the key. To find that, you’ve got to get back to basics. The magic is connecting the dots: - mission to vision- people to purpose- resources to budgets- ideas to actions- solutions to needs- llamas to nursing homesJust making sure you’re still with me with that last one. In over 20 years of program and project management, what I love most is taking someone’s spark of genius and road-mapping it out to a real tangible benefit for a person or community.I get excited talking to stakeholders to find out their needs, what’s been tried, where we can innovate, what are the aspirational goals, and then work together to make it happen. Although I like being the behind the scene force, I have no problem stepping out to take the lead when needed. When you are representing the Governor and First Lady of a state, you learn to be comfortable in a spotlight quickly.Another aspect that brings it all together for me is community. It is important that any project or program that I am a part of has a greater good in my or our overall community. It’s what has led me to working in both government and nonprofit segments; however, I am very open to corporate positions where I can be the bridge to the community. Finally, it’s about the team. Being a part of a culture that values integrity, diverse thinking, creativity, and accountability. I always like to establish an environment of doing our best, enjoying the work, and supporting each other in making a difference. The llamas and nursing home – years ago we raised goats and llamas and would take the llamas to local nursing homes as visiting morale boosters. Who doesn't like a visit from a llama?

Director Of ProgramsOverdose Lifeline, Inc Nov 2017 - Sep 2020Indianapolis, Indiana AreaI would classify my role as all parts project manager, program facilitator, relationship builder, and stakeholder trainer. My primary focus was taking a world-renowned program, bringing it to a community level and making a difference. This was building this program from a grassroots level and giving it momentum. I traveled the state building bridges, conveying value, running the program, analyzing metrics, reporting, and training others on how to implement the program. In addition, I was fortunate to partner with law enforcement and first responders across 49 counties using a grant to get a lifesaving tool and training in their hands. As much front facing as I was for those initiatives, I also enjoyed the behind the scenes infrastructure work of community awareness and funding programs. This meant helping plan and manage special projects, events, and activities; coordinating with community partners; gathering volunteers; scheduling events; and post-event follow up.Expert Services/Skills: Project Management, Program Management, Relationship Building, Training & Education, and Networking, -
Program DirectorIndiana Criminal Justice Institute Apr 2013 - Oct 2017Indianapolis, Indiana AreaWhen I first joined the ICJI, it was all about the counties and money: how to get it, keep it and best use it. I was brought in as a liaison to help counties take control of their grant processes. This meant working with them to help guide them on bringing the right resources, research, writing, community partners, and federal/state data to the table to significantly increase their success rate. Then it was a matter of how to best maximize those funds to achieve their goals of awareness with cohesiveness in the community. Shortly after working as a Program Manager, I was promoted to Program Director – again, about the money - I was tasked with leading an inhouse federal compliance program to retain federal funding. I’m most proud of two aspects in taking on this task: first that it was successful. Funds were retained and compliance ratings were exceptional. Second, we created a federally approved program (complete with policies and training) that was easily adopted and transitioned, remotely, to my successor. Director Of Prevention For The State Of FloridaFlorida Governor'S Office Of Drug Control 2004 - 2008Tallahassee, Florida AreaI was first brought in on a recommendation for a new position supporting the First Lady of Florida’s youth program. It was an exciting time getting the program off the ground, gaining supporters at the national, state, and local level, and being the hub in the communications wheel among the Governor, First Lady, and Governor’s Office. Often, I would raise awareness as a featured speaker representing the First Lady at events across the state. With the success of the program, I was promoted to Director of Prevention. During this time, I represented the Governor, First Lady and Drug Czar on a national and statewide level. My primary role and success came in building collaboration and momentum that influenced strategies, policies, and increased community awareness of high-level programs.
