Marketing is a fascinating discipline that touches (if you let it!) a host of different commercially interesting areas, but which at its heart is all about people; people you work with, those you are trying to sell to and, indeed of increasing value, those you are trying to create long-term relationships with that translate into an invaluable advocacy.My marketing communication skills have been refined over a 20+ year period working in various professional services roles, alongside some exceptional individuals and teams, and supporting a number of businesses on specific communication projects/issues.Particular strengths focus upon the planning and execution of marketing strategies that involve a number of distinct channels and disciplines, and of importance, ensuring interaction at various levels: communication between suppliers and colleagues being particularly critical. Allied to this is a 12 year career working in private equity which has added a keen commercial perspective to my marketing knowledge.I have a steadfast belief in the value of 'joined up' marketing and understanding that the linkage between all tactical and strategic activities must be built around both sound principles and a solid set of objectives. Equally I am old and wise enough to know that 'book' marketing is very different from 'real life' marketing in business...and getting involved quickly is often the best way to provide marketing solutions that work, thus avoiding too much thinking!In addition my interest in supporting adhoc community projects has grown over the past few years - through direct interaction or via support for the project's development. These projects generally focus upon areas of charity or challenge, and if applicable linked to a commercial goal.
