Developing a mesoscale simulation algorithm for slender biomolecues, by modelling them as fluctuating, extensible elastic rods, and modelling the NDC80c kinetochore protein complex. Plus: writing articles, preparing course materials, demonstrating undergraduate labs, and presenting my work at conferences!

In my 1-year Industry placement, I designed, built, documented and performed tests to comply with external standards to measure the thermal and optical performance of LED devices. I designed benchmarks and programmed user-friendly tools to help analyze and collate LED data. This data and these procedures have been used to help inform the the design of products at Sharp and at Sharp's customers.I also helped to prototype and eventually won funding for a new Sharp LED website, which delivered a level of support to Sharp customers never before seen in the industry.During this placement, I acquired a strong grounding in engineering principles and business/professional skills. I was a regional finalist for the EDT 'Future Industry Leaders' award.
