"Leap... and the net will appear." John Burroughs said that. So I leapt. I decided to press pause on a secure future in network engineering, to pursue what really mattered to me: mental health. My passion for this field is informed by my own lived experiences of suffering - which, thanks to the help and support of many amazing people, gave birth to a desire to not only transform my own life, but also to give back and help the millions of others just like me.When I get into a job, I want to know everything. What are we doing? Who's it for? Why does it matter? Once the puzzle comes together, I become a machine. I've organized and facilitated meditation retreats on two days' notice, completed million-dollar technical projects on time and under budget, and successfully sold bamboo toothbrushes door-to-door in central Texas' summer. Now, I'm ready to put that same hunger and perseverance to work in the field of medicine. Studying at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, I hope to soon contribute to the mission of alleviating the suffering of the sick. Business school and years of meditation (plus a stint as a Buddhist monk) have provided me with perspectives and lessons that I hope to one day include in my practice, and which I believe will enable me to offer a more integrated, holistic level of care.Be well!
