About Rob Lubberink🟥

My work focuses on understanding and informing how entrepreneurship & innovation can create the necessary systemic change not only for a sustainable economy but also one that is fair and inclusive. In this endaevour, I specifically look at understanding, including and amplifying the voices of people that are (or may otherwise be) neglected or overlooked. This requires zooming in on everyday practices of people and zooming out by looking the larger systems in which these practices take place. Moreover, it requires engaged scholarship and participating in change as opposed to watching it at the sidelines.

This newly found Lab aims to collectively reflect, discuss and experiment in systems thinking, mapping and change activities across the domains of research, education, project management and consulting. We are researchers, but we constantly act as practitioners in projects, incubators, trainings, classrooms, partnerships and shaping policies and strategies within and beyond our organisations. We complement other systems thinking, design and innovation communities of practice by taking the time to discussing and advancing the management and innovation science beneath the practice.

  • Osmare (Organising Business Models For Smallholder Resilience)
    Postdoctoral Researcher And Project Manager
Osmare (Organising Business Models For Smallholder Resilience) Dec 2017 - Apr 2021
    Wageningen
Managing the OSMARE research project where the research team investigates how: 1) the organisational structures of business models affect smallholders' entrepreneurial farming practices and 2) how the household and community dynamics affect individual entrepreneurial practices and vice versa. OSMARE focuses on the business models that have CSA integrated through the Vuna program. These business models are located in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique. I am interested in studying the everyday entrepreneuring of smallholders in rural communities. Doing in-depth qualitative research is crucial, during which I am adopting practice theory as a lens in his research to create space for inductive inquiry. At the same time I engage with smallholders, farmer organizations, private companies and other stakeholders by organizing capacity building activities with the aim to foster the resilience of the value chain and its actors.
  • Wageningen Ur (University & Research Centre)
Phd Candidate Responsible Innovation & Social Entrepreneurship
Wageningen Ur (University & Research Centre) Jun 2013 - Jan 2018
    Wageningen
Responsible innovation is a new idea(l) that aims to involve stakeholders and the public throughout the innovation process to collectively steer innovations into a desirable direction that is ethically acceptable, societally desirable and sustainable. An admirable ideal, but how can this be realised in business settings in general and (social) entrepreneurship processes in particular? That is what I am trying to find out in my PhD. We first aim to understand what responsible innovation could mean in a business context, which is based on conceptual analyses and a systematic review of the literature. This is accompanied with exploratory empirical studies that aim to find out how social entrepreneurs manage the development of their innovations, and how public values are 'embedded' in their innovation outcomes.
