Independent of my role at Fortescue Zero I undertake this role, representing the industry view within project reviews and advising the Multi-scale Modelling project.

Contributing Industry views and experience to this wide ranging committee, setting goals and priorities for the UK energy research community.

Founded the company and built it to a peak of about 12 engineers in electronics, software and mechanical hardware.Secured business delivering components for many different vehicle types, but specialising in electrified vehicles.RDVC was one of the first specialists in the UK for high voltage vehicle electronics and developed successful products for:Battery ManagementDC/DC power conversionHV heating controlsPower DistributionEarth fault (isolation) detectionOur designs entered service in several thousand vehicles built in the UK, Germany and India.The business was combined with RDVS in 2013 to consolidate trading under a common brand.

Responsible for setting up the JV, marketing our services within India directly with senior executives in client companies, presenting at trade shows etc.Assisted with developing business with 4 leading Indian automotive companies in electrification of their vehicles / powertrains.

Founded the business in 2004 and led it to a peak of 35 staff.Led business development, winning business with multiple OEMs, Tier 1s and specialist technology developers.RDVS was one of the first businesses involved in electrification of vehicles within the UK. Our technology was used in leading UK and German electric vehicles.Built a world class engineering team in both vehicle level engineering services and electronic component engineering. Secured funded projects from Innovate UK, Horizon 2020 and OLEV/APC.

My time at Ricardo was brief, coinciding with a severe downturn in the automotive industry at the time.My time there was spent on several projects:Specialist consulting project for Fiat and PSA as a consultant to Ricardo Strategic ConsultingMilitarisation of the electrical system on the Ricardo conversion of the Ford F350 and EMC countermeasures for radio system compatibility.

I started life at TWR with responsibility for design and integration of the new and revised electronics systems on the Volvo C70 coupe and convertible. This included hood, window lift, instrument, climate, security and safety systems integration.I then led the electrical side of a number of projects including:Ford Fuel Economy Leader (FEL) - a DISI I3 engine and ASM transmission in the Fiesta platformFord Focus - incorporating a turbo charged version of the I3 DISI engine and the ASM transmissionBTO - an American start up company planning a coupe based upon Chevrolet Trailblazer donor partsBugatti Veyron concept proposalsGM's advanced telematics investigation (Proactive Maintenance) projectas well as numerous other concept and skunk vehicle projects.In my final year I took over responsibility for the Electrical Engineering department - a team of around 25 engineers and technicians.

Latterly, I was responsible for the team designing and developing the P38A Range Rover body electronics system including BeCM, door, seat and centre console outstations along with column switchgear and ride height switch.Prior to that I was responsible for functional software testing of the system, specification and management of environmental testing and documentation for the diagnostics system. I also undertook most fault finding and investigation activities for the system.I also was responsible for sign-off of the Rover 80 coupe anti-trap software.
