In 2011, I created Minnick’s University, an in-class and online training tool used by HVAC professionals, weatherization technicians, contractors, homeowners, and other professionals in my industry to convey my decades of hands-on experience, family tradition, and skills needed to learn the “whole-house” approach to building science. Minnick’s Inc. believes in educating their employees – from customer service to technicians and installers – so they can fully service each client. The Minnick Training Center has provided HVAC professionals outside of the Minnick’s organization access to this same type of training and education. As a result of our training development, Minnick Training Center was contacted by Energy Star to develop a course to teach raters. To facilitate hands-on learning, we built a training room, two test houses, and a mock-up attic to train others through installation and servicing HVAC systems while guiding them through regulations.Minnick Training Center serves approximately 50 students regionally per year since 2011. Minnick Training Center is an approved BPI Test Center and provides BPI certification.

As CEO, President and Owner of Minnick’s Inc., I oversee the work of our service manager, install manager, architects, engineers, and more than 30 employees. A major part of my focus is to ensure our financial targets are met through consistent success within the industry and superior customer service. I’ve created a system of comprehensive home performance audits in order to follow up on projects and confirm customer satisfaction. Additionally, we perform detailed audits on the building and HVAC system before and after work is performed to ensure needs of customers are met and data is backed up.

As Mechanical Designer and Project Manager, I performed all mechanical engineering and designing for HVAC systems. Additionally, I educated employees on the mechanics of my designs as well installation techniques. My tools included ACCA manuals and NCI’s knowledge base in order to keep myself and the company at the forefront of new technologies and procedures; proper load calculation, equipment selection, duct design, termination grill selection and measuring operating systems. Accomplishment: The systems that I designed and verified won Minnick’s Inc. new business, resulting in a revenue increase of $15M over a period of 10 years.
