Since proactively seeking out and defining the function within the company, my active involvement, coupled with plant personnel engagement and key external service providers, achieved over $20M in refunds and an estimated addition $15M in flow through savings. Success in this function comes from developing a common focus and purpose within a diverse skillet of internal and external stakeholders. As a result of my involvement, I was regularly invited to submit statements to government consultations.In the midst of this effort, I was also assigned the task of understanding and defining Magna’s Abandoned and Unclaimed Property strategy – a multi-year effort to address an external review and adopt a functional U.S.-wide compliance process.In conjunction with my product and process familiarity, I had also been tasked with managing Magna’s Canadian government incentives, seeking out funding and assistance opportunities within available government programs. These efforts were in their infancy but had already started showing significant benefits with a number of projects being accepted by the government.The key to my success in the above efforts stem from my technical and financial literacy and my ability to involve and engage critical resources and expert personnel.

This position leveraged my extensive but detailed knowledge of the automotive industry and my ability to lead and motivate a team. Brought in from a prior employer, my credibility within the industry had established me as a competent and valuable asset. Magna benefited from my ability to quickly assess processes and formulate detailed and insightful inquiries into the operations. My skills were also leveraged in developing highly effective claims process for Magna’s Ireland operations. My skillset lead and inspired a team of technical and financial to be "best-in-class" in the formulation and creation of the scientific research and experimental development submission. I ultimately got the team established enough to pass the undertaking to one of my direct reports. In total, my team’s involvement brought approximately $500M in value to the company.In the midst of these efforts, I proactively pursued expanding the role of Magna in the realm of property assessment reductions. In this endeavor, while still keeping my technical and financial responsibilities of the scientific research and experimental development formulations, I brought the active management of assessment reductions in-house by negotiating external service contracts and actively participating in the review and appeal process
