Responsible for all aspects of running a small law enforcement agency including: budgeting; management of agency assets; preparing and submitting required reports to the State of Texas; service of civil process; criminal patrol; justice court security; and criminal investigations.As the Burnet County Precinct 4 Constable, I was a charter member of the Burnet County Blood Alcohol Task Force and later became the board president of the program. This project made Burnet County a “No Refusal” county by contracting with phlebotomists to complete blood draws at the Burnet County Jail for DWI arrests. The project required: coordinating with judges for blood search warrants; coordinating with all agencies in the county to standardize procedures; getting memorandums of understanding signed by law enforcement agency heads; coordinating with the County Attorney and County Auditor to insure restitution was added to cases; and presenting statistics of the program to Commissioners Court. The project has drastically reduced the caseload on county courts because almost 100% of defendants plead guilty prior to trial due to the blood test results.
