My passion and current focus is the military history of the Second World War in respect of the British Army and British Indian Army. I have a particular interest in the war in South-East Asia, the campaigns in Burma, and the Battles for Kohima and Imphal. In addition, I am researching Coastal Command, and specifically, the land based squadrons involved in the Battle of the Atlantic. My dissertation was: An Examination and Analysis of the Leigh Light Wellington squadrons at R.A.F. Chivenor between 1942 and 1945, and their contribution to the Battle of the Atlantic. In October 2015, I was awarded a M.A. in British Second World War Studies, with Merit, by the University of Birmingham. This was a two-year, taught, Masters course, which I found challenging and stimulating. I continue to write and lecture on the Second World War, and in particular, Coastal Command, and the India/Burma Campaigns. Thanks to Webworld-uk, I am the author and webmaster for a website covering the British Army and British Indian Army between 1930 and 1956. This website was relaunched in 2018 with a new, updated format, particularly to take account of increased use of mobile to view web content. There are over one hundred pages covering specific campaigns or military issues relevant to the U.K. in the Second World War, with over 250 individual pdf documents available for download, free at the point of use. The site attracts about 100 users each and every day.I enjoy lecturing and discussing issues around the Second World War, but admit I am one to challenge popular conceptions about the war, and try to take a wider perspective, not just a current, British focused, narrative of events. I believe the events of the Second World War still carry a reasonance in terms of current political and military strategic issues, and such, it is relevant and interesting to study this period of recent history.
