Chief Executive OfficerMammaguard Pty Ltd Jan 2011 - Sep 2013Mammaguard was a privately owned $1m revenue medical device company founded in Melbourne Australia. It was a start-up seeking to commercialize and grow internationally. It produces a device that is designed to provide pain relief and mechanical support for women post operatively and in their daily lives following mastectomy, breast reconstruction and breast augmentation. My role was as CEO hired to been responsible for the overall business, taking the prototype through redesign, FDA, TGA and MHRA registration and developing the manufacturing and commercialisation strategy for a global launch. The main markets were the US, South America, Europe and parts of South East Asia. The role was very ‘hands on’ with the need to establish and develop contacts in the target markets, negotiate contracts and carry out regular business modelling. I had to work and liaise with a wide range of providers in the tooling, manufacturing, raw materials, design and internet spaces as well as keep on top of progress in Australia, the US and Europe simultaneously managing projects both with real and ‘virtual’ teams in these areas as well as legal and sales pipeline development. All of this has had to be achieved within a tight budget.

Primary ConsultantIndependent Consulting Aug 2009 - Sep 2013Arriving in Australia in June 2009 I set up a private consulting company from scratch to meet the needs of my family situation. My revenue over was $600k and I operated across listed companies, private companies and those with private equity interest ranging from revenues of $30m to $600m. I was involved in a variety of key projects across differing sectors, encompassing medical device, biotechnology and bio-engineering. Working initially full-time and then taking the occasional project due to my role in Mammaguard (see above), it was an excellent opportunity to further develop my knowledge of the Australian and South East Asian market place whilst still maintaining contact and working with businesses in Europe and the US. My roles have covered general management, manufacturing strategy, sales development and commercialising products in a variety of Australian and International markets. I spent over 8 months working with a listed Melbourne Biotech and working in the US and Asia and developed their plans to scale up product production for home and overseas markets for the next 10 years. I fulfilled the role of Australian/New Zealand Managing Director for a Swiss multi-national medical device business, for 5 months, where I developed the strategy for the launch of a new product line and implemented sales growth plans particularly eCommerce. I have supported a Swiss Cardiac Company where I helped them to develop plans to grow the existing business aggressively over the next 3 years on a global level and also to launch and develop their two other business areas within the Australia and New Zealand markets. I have also worked closely in the venture capital sector and also on occasion for the Institute of Directors in the UK. Additionally during the latter part of 2012 I also successfully completed the strategic review of an independent business unit of St Vincent de Paul resulting in a comprehensive report and recommendations for their future direction.
