Senior PastorOpawa Baptist Church Jul 2010 - Mar 2016Christchurch, New ZealandSenior Manager, Team and Teaching Leader of the Opawa Baptist Church Organisation. Managed a staff of up to 5 direct paid employees along with over a dozen key volunteer groups. During my tenure we experienced the greatest natural disaster in the history of New Zealand with both the September 2010 and February 2011 earthquakes. During that time we lost a number of members who left the city and, as an organisation, we were crippled by damaged buildings and financial hardship. With limited resources, I was able to create opportunities and implement a vision and strategy to help navigate the church through a very trying time. This consisted of:- Re-imaging the church through the implementation of a new identity, vision and sustainability plan due to the environmental and social changes imposed. - The development of community ministry teams to deal with the growing needs of our local community; - Negotiating with Insurance, builders, Council and the local community over property redevelopment.

This consisted of reaching out to young adults between the ages of 18 and 29. My duties included:• Weekly teaching. The studies were primarily apologetic in nature, though many were also sessions for equipping the students for evangelical outreach• Discipling and counseling. This was achieved through the development of off-campus programs and relationships, primarily to assist young adults in their walk with the Lord. This was offered primarily through prayer and one on one interaction.Remedy also ran outreach events on local college campuses, of which I was also a part of organizing and running. Pastor - Youth & Young AdultsLifesong Church Jan 2006 - Oct 2006Elk Grove, CaCo-Founding pastor at LifeSong Church, a new church plant supported by the Church Planting arm of the Baptist Churches of the West, Growing Healthy Churches (GHC). The idea of the church plant came to head in August of 2005 when the senior pastor of Helensburgh Baptist Church (located in Helensburgh, Australia), John Smulo, was approached by the then head of Growing Healthy Churches (GHC), John Kaiser. I was approached by John Smulo shortly thereafter, and after a meeting with John Smulo, John Kaiser and Paul Borden (The head of Baptist Churches of the West), was formally asked to assist John Smulo in the planting of a new church in Northern California. In December 2005 I formally attended the DCPI (Dynamic Church Planting International) training conference in San Diego, CA, preparing us for the imminent occasion of our church plant. Our first service was conducted January 29, 2006 at the Senior’s Center located in Elk Grove, CA, an outside suburb of Sacramento. My roles from day one were to establish and run the youth, young adult and worship ministries. Within a month most of the basic ministry areas were in place (including youth, worship, kids ministry and outreach). With time my role came to include also the multimedia ministry and regular Sunday morning preaching. An important point in the church’s life was meeting with Randal Broadhurst and the joining of his young adult group, Remedy, to LifeSong. This provided a great outreach opportunity and increased my workload to helping out in areas outside of the church. By this time we were running three midweek programs (youth, young adults and two home groups). My last service with LifeSong was October 22. I continued working with Remedy until my next appointment came up with Southview.
