Oversee a team of program managers, research assistants, graduate student fellows, and interns who function in support of both in-house scholars and a broad network of economic, legal, and public policy scholars. Aside from his duties at Mercatus, Mr. Raffety serves as an adjunct professor of law and public administration for the GMU School of Law and the School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs. He is also a screenwriter and indie filmmaker though his production company, Tragedy Plus Time, LLC.Mr. Raffety is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College (’97) and received a JD/MPA joint degree from Syracuse University College of Law and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs (’00).

Rob Raffety is Associate Director for Policy Research at the Mercatus Center. In this capacity, Rob manages and directs research for a wide network of economic, legal, and public policy scholars. In addition, Rob oversees the work of Mercatus Masters Fellows involved with regulatory studies and government accountability research and activities. Aside from his duties at Mercatus, Rob is an adjunct professor of law and public administration for the GMU School of Law and the Department of Public and International Affairs.

Initially served as Special Assistant to then CPSC Chairman, Hon. Hal Stratton, advancing US regulatory policy at home and abroad, including two official visits to the PRC. Also worked in the Office of General Counsel, including issues such as contracts, employment law, and ethics training.

Designed and executed educational programming for Capitol Hill Campus.

Managed team of legislative assistants, legislative correspondents, staff assistants, and interns for the office of freshman Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-2).
