Appointed by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland to the board that governs the second largest university in Ohio with over 46,000 students and $1 billion budget. Elected to chairman, becoming the youngest person to serve in this role of the University’s Board of Trustees. • Established vision, concept and $32 million funding for innovation hub that led to an innovation district within Ohio, supported by companies, investors and a $100 million grant. • Led creation of Scholars Academy that allowed disadvantaged high school students to live on campus and attend classes, seeing firsthand how their studies applied to the work environment while providing a pathway to higher education.• Led establishment of largest corporate diversity scholarship in university’s history by pitching a partnership between Marathon Oil who was unable to recruit African American candidates, with Emerging Ethnic Engineers Program and University president. • Led search committee and process to find new university president during chaotic and rudderless time, collaborating with students, deans, donors, and staff that led to consensus and new president within six months. Served as spokesperson for University during this critical period.• Championed systemic, top-down reforms to university police policies after the indictment of a uc officer for the killing of Samuel Dubose.
