For more than 15 years, I've worked with business leaders to balance the art and science of marketing, and help them tell their story more effectively. Over the last twelve years, I've served as a Fractional Marketing Leader for startups and media companies, and consulted with more than 500 companies, including 15 of the Fortune 100.As a fractional marketing leader, I work primarily with technology and/or digital media companies to help them navigate the new complexities of modern marketing and digital media. As a strategic advisor and consultant, I've spent the last decade working for brands such as Salesforce, SAP, Anthem Insurance, Capital Group, Roche Pharmaceuticals, The Globe and Mail, Informa, and ServiceNow among others. I've served as the fractional Chief Strategy Advisor of The Content Marketing Institute since its launch in 2010 and helping guide it to be the leading global content marketing education and training organization. Prior to that, I was CMO of Crownpeak - leading the marketing and product development of one of the world’s first enterprise Software-as-a-Service web content management solutions.I also serve as a board member and investor for technology startups, serving on the board of DivvyHQ, and currently on the advisory board of video startup company BrandLens. I'm the author of four best-selling books on marketing and content strategy. Thousands of students have attended my training on Marketing Fundamentals, and Content Marketing Strategy. My course on Content Marketing Strategy is the American Marketing Association’s certification course. I'm also the co-host of the popular marketing podcast This Old Marketing, which is downloaded more than a half-a-million times every year in 150 countries.I love marketing, and I love helping to create the maps that can help business leaders realize their visions of success.
