Under the supervision of the Stewardship Director, I am responsible for the documentation, monitoring, and stewardship of over 3,000 acres of conservation lands on the Kenai Peninsula in South Central Alaska. Coordinating with landowners and volunteers to visit each conservation easement property and check for compliance with terms of the legal agreements in the conservation easement document. This position requires navigating rough, off-trail terrain with the aid of a GPS device and aerial maps. Detailed information is recorded in the field and is later compiled and summarized in reports for each site visit and monitoring event.This position requires collaboration and consultation with the KHLT Stewardship Director and KHLT Conservation Director, as well as volunteers, NGOs, non-profits, and governmental agencies to undertake various management tasks and address management issues. In addition to the primary tasks above, I also assist with the daily operations of the land trust, including record-keeping, policy updating, troubleshooting tech problems, reviewing and editing multi-author documents, answering phone calls and directing visitors to appropriate people and information to answer their questions.

Assisted in a variety of stewardship tasks including monitoring and photo-documenting conservation properties for compliance with conservation easements and management issues. Assisted in the restoration and management of conservation areas through trail maintenance, litter clean-up, and invasive plant management. Worked with volunteers to accomplish various property management tasks. Also, assisted in the public outreach and education aspects of a program to decrease water use, decrease chemical use, and encourage native assemblages in private lawns and gardens within Blaine County, ID. The goal of this program, called Trout-Friendly Lawns, was to protect the integrity of the local aquifer, watershed, the Wood River, and the rural environment of Blaine County.

Assisted lab researchers with various tasks involved in the study of fungal pathogens and genetics. This included media plate preparation, fungal culture management and transfer, DNA extraction, PCR and gel electrophoresis. Took detailed notes and records of data observed, tasks completed and location of files.
