The DevOps Industrialisation squad was being formed when I joined with additional team members joining in the first month. The squad was part of a tribe of roughly 230 people and had a daily scrum of scrums and 3 monthly planning sessions. I educated my Product Owner and Development team and another squad on Agile values, principles, the scrum framework and the NAB operating model. I helped my squad define their way of working, set up walls, definition of done, social contract, facilitated events as well as teaching them on the way NAB wanted us to use JIRA. I helped the squad to be transparent and to work and plan together with many other teams in and outside our tribe. I mentored a new scrum master in another squad in our tribe.

I started here with a new team working on a new and exciting product as a Scrum Master. The department then transformed from individuals being responsible for specific deliverables to DevOps Scrum squads of people being responsible for applications. I transitioned to an Agile Coaching role across multiple squads and worked with an Agile coach in Brisbane. Together we helped the squads form and educated the squads, managers and business stakeholders in Scrum and other Agile practices. A new manager with a view to introducing Agile to the team of developers, testers and support analysts requested my help. I took time to get to know the people and understand the work they were doing. I gradually introduced Scrum and Kanban concepts as well as JIRA to the team. The rather large 20+ person team was split into smaller ~7 person teams. I established 3 iteration walls, a combined backlog, regular backlog refinement sessions, a team definition of done and constantly working together with customers. I then established a pipeline team using Kanban to look at the bigger picture of work, this was based on the SAFe Program Backlog. I also helped the support team establish a Kanban wall with their team process.

Within a couple of weeks I saw the opportunity to improve the way Integration work was done. I created a Scrum component team, the Integration Component Team, which delivers integration components for many projects at Aus Post. As the Iteration Manager, I coached the team on agile practices, facilitated agile ceremonies and drove continuous improvement. Due to the success of this team and the huge Integration workload, I headed up scaling this model (based on the Scaled Agile Framework - SAFe) across the department which saw 2 additional teams created. All TIBCO Integration is now managed, prioritised, planned and implemented by the ICT.
