Rob Sayegh is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations practice in Phoenix. He specializes in financial crimes compliance and investigations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA); anti-money laundering (AML); risk management; transaction monitoring; embezzlement; corporate, securities, and healthcare fraud; anti-corruption; internal fraud; fraud mitigation; insider threat; antitrust and human trafficking. A former FBI Special Agent, Rob has been the lead investigator on numerous cases. He is highly experienced in conducting interviews, reviewing documents and surveillance, appearing in court, writing affidavits, executing search warrants, collecting evidence, generating operational plans, as well as participating in proffers and undercover roles. An expert interviewer, Rob has intensive experience interviewing subjects, witnesses and victims. Rob has testified over 100 times in criminal court, led multiple task forces, and recruited, trained and oversaw task force officers for the FBI. Prior to joining A&M, Rob was the Director of Fraud Prevention and Risk Management at a large gift card company where he thwarted millions of dollars of international fraud. He led an international team on risk transaction monitoring, international fraud and financial crime investigations, partnering with legal, HR, compliance, privacy, product, and engineering teams to identify and assess risks while upholding corporate standards, minimizing false positives and protecting against fraud. Rob oversaw internal fraud investigations and insider threat security and assessed anti-fraud and AML controls across multiple product lines and countries. Previously, Rob was a leader on a financial crime investigations team for a Fortune 500 payment processor company. He prevented and mitigated financial crimes and fraudulent activities which occurred through their payment systems. Rob focused on AML, compliance, KYC (Know Your Customer), account takeovers and chargeback investigations. Rob is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and served two tours in the Persian Gulf as a naval officer. He is a frequent instructor on interviewing techniques and speaks often about interviewing.
