I am a full-time glaucoma and comprehensive consultant in Vancouver, BC, an EMR champion, and a technology geek. I am on the Board of Directors of the Health Data Coalition of BC and completed level 3 Advanced VCH/PHC Physician-led Quality Improvement training. I serve as Medical Director of West Coast Glaucoma. I am a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UBC and host the Talking About Glaucoma podcast.From 2013-2018 I was on clinical faculty at Dartmouth College. I trained in Clinical Microsystems at The Dartmouth Institute of Health Policy to coach teams to optimize workflow in order to improve quality patient care. I also studied at Epic University in Verona, WI, to become a Physician Builder for Epic. Prior to this, I was on faculty at the University of Michigan 1996-99, University of British Columbia (UBC) 1999-2013 and founded the West Coast Glaucoma Centre in 2005. I am a longstanding member of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society's Maintenance of Certification Committee where I help oversee Ophthalmology CME accreditation in Canada and am a founding member of their new Digital Technology/On-Line Learning committee. I was in charge of Ophthalmology grand rounds at DHMC and previously for UBC Ophthalmology. I also served as the Director of undergraduate ophthalmology education at UBC. In 1994-99, my team developed the first interactive CD ROM series for Ophthalmic surgery, Multimedia Oculosurgical Modules (MOM), which was published by Mosby.Much of my non-clinical time is spent using technology for education. I blog about Glaucoma, Electronic Medical Records and Technology (http://wholelottarob.com), host a podcast series 'Talking About Glaucoma,'​ and lecture internationally on glaucoma and the use of Electronic Medical Records and Social Media in clinical care and moderate the Glaucoma Patient Group on facebook that I founded in 2007 (https://www.facebook.com/groups/glaucomapatientgroup/) and the Talking About Glaucoma sub-reddit that I also created (http://talkingaboutglaucoma.reddit.com).
