I am an information technology professional. This means I design and create systems to get the right information to the right people at the right time and in a form that is usable. Most of the time this involves creating innovative software; it ALWAYS involves evaluating the "human" side of systems to determine if a problem is technical or procedural. I believe technology solutions ought to SERVE the people that use them, not GOVERN how they operate.In over 30 years as system developer, I have worked in a wide variety of operating systems, including DOS, Windows, iOS, Unix, Linux, AS/400, PICK and a few even more obscure. I've written code in various flavors of BASIC, C++, C#, Objective-C, T-SQL, and most recently in JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular 2+. Regardless of platform or language, my goal has been to develop applications for people, not just for the sake of technology.One of the best parts of having worked for so long in so many different capacities is having the opportunity to share what I've learned with colleagues as well as with students in the various places I have taught. I love "seeing the light bulbs go on" when a mentee truly understands a difficult concept and is able to put it into practice. Specialties: Software and database design and optimization.
