My aspiration in life: To make a positive impact on as many lives as possible.It all started as a young junior officer in the U.S. Navy, fresh out of college with an accounting degree, I discovered that one of the most valuable ways I could take care of my sailors was by sharing my financial aptitude. I helped by protecting them from loan sharks, creating budgets, and even assisting with their tax returns for free. And I found total bliss in doing so.When it came time to transition from the military to a civilian career, I knew clearly what I wanted to do in life: Put my gift for understanding finance to work to help people. Today, I am the President of Schulz Wealth, a fee-only fiduciary financial planning and wealth management firm. We help business owners develop plans that weigh the options available for selling their businesses. Our goal is two-fold: One, to provide a secure path for the owner’s retirement – and two, do it in a way that shows their employees that they truly do care. I am also a Vistage professional speaker who helps business leaders implement effective strategies that change lives and elevate corporate culture. And I am the author of Thoughts on Things Financial, a no-nonsense wealth management guide for all ages.I believe anything is possible —but you must have a plan. I promise my clients that if they engage in a process with us, we can help them achieve their financial goals.I strive to be more than an advisor. I desire to be a mentor, a calm in any storm, and a reliable friend when the weather’s good. I am the kind of person my clients lean on for advice during life’s big decisions, someone who is approachable, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. Someone who looks at their finances in unique ways that are specifically tailored to their goals and situations – and always judgment-free. I’ve received multiple awards and accolades during my 25-year career. Most recently, I was recognized by my peers and publicly as a 2019 Five Star Wealth Manager and as a 2019 Investopedia Top 100 Investor in the country.I have also taught Retirement Planning for the Certified Financial Planning Certificate program at Texas Christian University and at The University of Texas at Arlington.Outside of work, I am an avid sportsman, golfer, traveler, and woodworker.
