I'm passionate about utilizing my 25 years of knowledge and experience in the ICT industry to improve technical and cyber security states of ICT systems at all levels, including end user practices, traditional on-presses and cloud infrastructure environments.Having worked for the WA Electoral Commission for over 18 years, I’ve project managed the deployment of ICT infrastructure for many elections including four State General Elections (the biggest public events in WA). Planning the configuration, security and deployment of thousands of devices to polling places and returning officers, as well as the planning and deployment of the ICT requirements for the vote processing centre to support 2000 staff. All culminating towards the timely delivery of the election results on polling day to the public, media and political parties. No pressure. 😊I’ve been actioning best practice security methods for many years such as least privilege access controls across file shares, server access, deploying segregated separate administration accounts for on-premise and cloud, using identity management security methods such as enforcing MFA using Conditional Access controls, implementing Cyber Security practices based on WA Dept Digital Government requirements including Essential 8 best practices.I have extensive experience researching, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading infrastructure services including endpoints, LANs, WANs, SANs, servers, virtual and cloud environments such as Azure and M365.I also enjoy imparting my knowledge of cyber security by designing and conducting staff training sessions to assist them to stay safe online both at work and at home.I am also the local recycling and reuse guru, researching and adopting sustainable ICT practices within the Commission. As well as advising staff how they can recycle at work and at home, I created and manage the Commission’s printer and batter recycling programs, to date over 900kg of printer toners and 150kg of batteries have been recycled. I wrote and implemented the reuse policy into the ICT disposal procedures, whereby working but not fit for purpose ICT equipment is offered and donated (after having all data securely wiped of course) to charitable organisations such as https://tadwa.org.au/ for refurbishment for community reuse.
