The Table was a brand language studio. Over five years, we encouraged brands around the world to think harder about how they used words. In 2020, The Table became The Brand Language Studio.

I worked with designers and strategists to develop brands for established companies like British Gas and Ikea, and emerging businesses like Whiteman Interiors. I wrote websites for people like MinaLima, the people behind the Harry Potter film graphics and props. And I trained companies like Vodafone and Allianz to use their tone of voice, and communicate more effectively.

26 changed my life. One day I was a newly fledged freelancer, sitting at home working out what I wanted to do. The next I was pitching ideas to the V&A. I helped run three major projects for 26 - 26 Treasures at the V&A in London, 26 Flavours of Cornwall at Trebah Gardens in Cornwall, and 26 Stories of Christmas (online). For many years, I rubbed shoulders with some of the best writers in the industry. They taught me an enormous amount of what I know (and teach) today.

Waltham Abbey, England

In just under one year, I learned to work as the sole writer in a team of designers and developers, how to interview execs and write up their stories, and how to craft copy for the web and print. Clients included VW and SQS.
