I lead the page personalization and promotion engineering organization for Prime Video. We use a number of ML models to build a personalized page for every Prime Video customer across the world.

I led the engineering organization (SDEs, SDMs, TPMs, scientists) that figures out which product reviews are fake. In my time on the team, we reduced the amount of fake reviews by an order of magnitude by launching systems that automated decisions using machine learning. While doing this, we deprecated a number of legacy systems (building new systems natively in AWS) and reduced the maintenance costs by over 10% each year. During my time on the team, I promoted 27 people in my org (6 directs) and helped 2 directs transition from individual contributor to manager roles.

I led the compute imaging team for Oracle's new Bare Metal Cloud. The challenge in this role was building a team from almost scratch in an area that I wasn't super familiar with. I grew the team from 3 to 13 in just over a year, did an initial launch of the service, and increased the image library from 2 to 8.

My wife and I took 9 months off to travel the world before having kids. We went to 23 different countries across 5 continents and had a blast.

I stepped in to run the packaging recommendation team and made sure that things were on track for the Q4 peak.

I took over the MTurk team in 2012 and made some substantial improvements to team morale (Attrition 50% to <5%), doubled the size of the engineering team, and decreased the ops burden by over 20% each year.

I worked on a number of customer facing features and platform improvements. I focused a lot on load testing and really liked to solve difficult problems that reduced latency and load on the system.

- Wrote functional and technical specifications for the work history feature on the Mechanical Turk Worker website.- Implemented the feature in the website, REST service, Java backend, and database layers.- Developed unit, system, UI, and load tests for the feature.

- Created an application for traders to manage CDO profits and losses.- Developed an automated report that alerted the operations department of errors in data entry.- Debugged coworkers’ implementation of data structures that manage CDO price simulations.
