Prepares detailed and accurate technical illustrations for a variety of products and technologies for both domestic and foreign utility patent filings.

Perform engineering analysis, design, and evaluation on mechanical devices and components. Core competencies include stress and thermal analysis using the finite element method. Additional capabilities include creating technical documentation, prototype fabrication, testing, and writing reports and proposals.Finite element analysis experience includes various static, modal, dynamic, buckling, thermal, and thermal-electric problems utilizing ANSYS APDL and Workbench. Regularly utilize AWS and AISC design standards and have written post-processing utilities in Python to perform stress evaluations using finite element results.Selected projects, skills, and achievements include:- Designed a weldment assembly for supporting a robot arm in a custom application. Performed stress analyses, bolted joint design, and structure and weld analysis using AISC design criteria.- Have acquired over 2,000 hours of combined CAD usage between SolidWorks, Solid Edge, CREO, Inventor, and SpaceClaim, as well as many hundreds of hours developing 2D drawings in SolidWorks for assemblies and multi-level bill’s-of-material.- Re-designed and prototyped nuclear plant maintenance tools, contributing to prototype fabrication via manual and CNC machining; oversaw testing.- Analyzed a forklift attachment using the finite element method and evaluated for static and fatigue failure using the ANSI/AISC 360 specification.- Developed a custom Python application for performing stress evaluations based on finite element analysis results.- Analyzed a process apparatus according to ASME VIII Div. 2 and recommended design changes based on finite element analysis results. Proposed a modified design in order to accommodate thermal stresses and meet code requirements.- Analyzed underground water storage tanks under earth and hydraulic loading. Included material plasticity, and worked with customer to modify design and resolve issues with excessive strain and tank collapse.

Worked within Bayer's Application Engineering Group providing design and analysis services to customers. Used Abaqus and HyperMesh to perform structural analyses on pultruded materials and helped to develop a redesigned panel cross-section for a flooring product.
