About Robson Peisley
I am a final year BSc (Hons) Ecology and Conservation student at the University of Brighton. I have experienced a variety of fieldwork techniques across a range of marine, terrestrial and freshwater taxa, as well as developed a level of competency across AcrGIS, jamovi, and Microsoft Office. After I complete my undergraduate degree, I am planning to undertake a research based master’s degree as the next step in my desired career path as a conservation ecology researcher.Alongside my studies, I am the President of the University of Brighton Ecological Society, planning, organising, and leading events for our members. I have furthered my environmental outreach work in my role as the Youth Engagement Coordinator for the Sussex Mammal Group, where I work to create opportunities for those from underrepresented backgrounds in the nature and environment space. I am also a Youth Ambassador for the South Downs National Park, representing youth voice to inform management of the park and to drive for inclusion and accessibility within the South Downs National Park and the wider group of National Parks. In combination with my more formalised roles, I also have worked with organisations both locally and nationally on a wide range of conservation issues and projects, including the Mammal Society, UK Youth for Nature, the BTO, and the Sussex Dolphin Project.I have wide ranging interests across ecological sciences. My main research interests lie in conservation biology. I have specific interests in reintroductions, small populations, and large-scale habitat restoration, as well as ecotoxicology, invasive species management, and disease ecology. Currently I am keen to apply emerging methods and technologies such as eDNA, wildlife endocrinology, bioacoustics, big data, and conservation paleobiology to all manner of conservation issues. I am keen to work on projects which have clear benefits to conservation or fill in knowledge gaps to allow for more appropriate decision making. I am currently looking to gain experience in the conservation sector or within ecological research to further my experience and develop my skillset. I am also keen to build on my environmental outreach work and I am open to collaborations on developing content, outreach materials, or events to facilitate this.
