Rob is a Professor at WMG, University of Warwick, a Chartered Engineer and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with a specialist research background in the effects of cryogenic treatments on hard wearing engineering materials. Rob also has interests in developing materials for extreme environments (such as offshore structures and subsea pipelines). In their role as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programmes, Rob provides academic and strategic leadership, and coordinates a team of Course Leaders to ensure the delivery, refresh and development of WMG's undergraduate course portfolio.Rob's experience includes working with industry on a variety of student-led, consultancy and research projects, and continues to actively work to promote collaborations between industry and universities.During their career, Rob has volunteered for the Institution of Mechanical Engineers up to and including at strategic levels, and participated in education initiatives led by the Royal Academy of Engineering and Engineering Professors' Council.Specialties: Manufacturing tribology; cryogenic processing of steels and tool materials; wear testing, analysis and characterisation; metallography and microstructural analysis; engineering design.
