Rodger started his professional career in agricultural planning and later worked as General Manager, Pabod Food Company a government-owned agricultural production company involved in crop and animal production. He then moved on to the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) where he worked as Research Training Specialist and later Group Training Coordinator. In these capacities, he helped to design and run training courses in agricultural technologies all over sub-Saharan Africa before joining CTA as Training Programmes Manager in 2002. At CTA, Rodger was involved in designing, administering and delivering face-to-face courses in Africa, The Caribbean and the South Pacific. He helped to initiate e-learning programs at CTA in joint activities with FAO, UNITAR and the University of Pretoria. While at CTA he also served as a member of the technical advisory committee on capacity building of FARA (Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa) and member of the Steering Group of FAO's information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) Rodger worked as Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture Development providing guidance on agricultural policies and projects to improve agricultural development in the State and Group Managing Director of Bayelsa Agricultural Development Company Ltd - a holding company for government-owned agricultural companies in Bayelsa State. Rodger has co-authored a book on Scientific Writing one of his areas of interest and was the Reviewer/ Technical Editor of the Pro-Agro Collection, a series of practical illustrated production guides that are jointly published by CTA and ISF Cameroun.Rodger is the Managing Consultant at Penbryn Associates Ltd (Agriculture Development Consultants, Training and Curriculum Development Advisers and Scientific Editors).Rodger was reappointed as Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State of Nigeria in December 2017 - this time on the focused portfolio of Agriculture Financing.Since May 2018, Rodger has been engaged as Science skills trainer at AWARD (African Women in Agricultural Research and Development) Programme at the World Agroforestry Centre.
