As part of the overall research-project 'ACT: Accelerating Just Climate Transitions in Urban Regions' I co-coordinate and do practical research for Work Package 5: Sustainable consumption. To reach the overall outputs of this Work Package, we address two research questions: 1. What are (best) practices for sustainable consumption (of products and services, such as mobility, energy, food) in the neighbourhood? 2. How can these practices (such as reduced consumption, second-hand, sharing, repairing in the neighbourhood) be implemented in the next twenty years?The aim of WP 5 is to develop best practices for sustainable consumption (of products and services, including mobility, energy, food etc.) in the neighbourhood, and ways to foster their implementation.

As teammember of the ‘BUas Transversal Professorship Sustainability Transitions’ it is my task to: 'collect and create transition stories of professionals, organizations and businesses in BUas domains and link this knowledge base to the real world. We are going to tell about people’s struggles and successes, world views, doubts and hopes, barriers and opportunities. And we are looking for smart ways to distribute and share these stories so they can stimulate the upscaling and replication of the activities behind them.’

In my role as the Dutch SDG13 ambassador I'm guiding a group of 100 Dutch sme's towards 40% CO2-reduction in 2025. We are organizing webinars, practical help and network to fullfill Sustainable Development Goal #SDG13: Climate Action!

Together with a team of sustainability experts from different Universities I am investigating 'Degrowth'. Degrowth is ‘A planned reduction of excess energy and resource use to bring the economy back into balance with the living world in a safe, just and equitable way’ (Hickel, 2020). Results were published in Journal for Humanistic Studies (july 2022) and in the first edition of Journal Degrowth (may 2023). Publications followed the research question: Have local municipalities in the Netherlands installed degrowth conditions and are there initiatives that align with creating a degrowth society?In august 2023 an edition of Journal of Humanistic Studies was published with a 15 pages special about degrowth with several experts sharing their knowledge. I was one of the authors and guest editor of this special.
