A truism easily remembered and sometimes followed: As far as hiring staff for jobs and for those in search of jobs, sure it's who you know...but quite often it pays to look outside of the box. It's a great way to grow, improve and advance. I've spent twenty-five years crossing all the production lines. The variety of challenges accepted and solved has provided me with opportunities I never imagined would be mine when I started as an NBC Network News Cameraman in Los Angeles.The simple telling of a human story is anything but simple. A complex set of challenges to set the environment and showcase the uniqueness of each person is often whipped along by time constraints and budget. One must not waste efforts yet dig deeply, quickly to find the story core. It’s vital to have total control of the image when one's version of the moment is the most valid. Correctly motivated lighting and composition are my reward and essential to support the producer's final vision.
