About Rob Vertessy
Rob was formerly Director and CEO of the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (2011-16), Chief of CSIRO Land and Water (2004-2007) and CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre for Catchment Hydrology (2002-2004). He retired from executive leadership in the Australian Public Service in April 2016 and is now involved in Board governance, consulting and research. His Board work is focused on the interface between environmental science and environmental management and policy, mainly in the water, climate and marine domains. Rob is an Honorary Enterprise Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Melbourne and maintain an active interest in the science of water security and climate change. He is also the principal of his consulting firm Global Change Advisory, providing strategic advice and capacity development in the use of environmental intelligence for managing water scarcity under changing climate conditions.
