• Defined and took ownership of new, global process for managing change within the enterprise PLM program; supporting thousands of end users, spanning multiple Business units, systems and continents.• Managed a small team equating to 750 resource hours per month with Cummins’ global preferred vender for PLM; Tata Consultancies (TCS). This involved running the Change request process, chairing two globalchange review boards, communication, planning, overseeing the implementation, deployment and infant care for both system enhancements and “bug fixes”.• Conducted expert, enterprise level technical support for business critical systemic problems within the MatrixOne PLM application.• Responsible for providing the review and final approval of a change before deployment in the Enterprise PLM environment.• Completed my Six Sigma green belt training and am currently completed my first project to define a common global release process designed for the new, single-instance PLM platform; PTC’s Windchill.

• Extensive use of the ENVOIA MatrixOne PLM solution and Java (J2EE) 6 development.• Implemented a new logging framework to allow remote monitoring of our production application servers: This provided real-time error detection and increased traceability of the applications.• Lead the implementation of a new sub-component for the “Work Request” system: This was designed to increase data accuracy, efficiency and traceability within the Engineering Department when testing parts.• Lead the local implementation of a “Time Recording” system: This project was designed to increase utilisation within the Laboratory operations department by 5%, saving an estimated 460,000 USD per year.• Was involved in an ongoing efficiency–improvement project, successfully decreasing report times on our Application servers from 45 minutes to 10 seconds in several areas; drastically increasing the productivity ofour users.• Lead a project to standardise our coding practises: This was focused around how applications were developed, which toolkits were used and where code was stored in order to decrease development time,provide better scalability, maintainability and efficiency.

Following my sponsored final year at University, I continued my employment on an 18 month Graduate scheme starting from September. I spent the first 3 months touring the following departments, gaining general business knowledge of the company:-- Sales & Marketing- IT Department- Supply chainAs of the new year I began my full-time role as a Software Engineer within the Laboratory Operations department; involving the design, implementation, testing, deployment of new software systems and the continuing support of existing applications within a PLM environment.

Based in Huddersfield, I spent my time working in both the development of new projects and the support of existing applications including CAD data management and Work Request systems. I gained experience in leading my own projects, development in Java (J2EE), MatrixOne (Oracle) Databases and a small super visionary role over the new Placement Student towards the end of my year. The placement was so successful I was sponsored by the company and asked to speak at a lecture held by my University’s Placement Department on my experiences.
