Profile bio

About Rob Whillock

Highly motivated and experienced Project Manager with a predominantly technical background. My diverse background started in the shipyards followed by Lloyds Register (LR) and now Shell. This has given me a breadth of experience both from a technical and commercial perspective that many clients, both internal and external value highly. My career to date has been incredibly varied, starting out in Project Management of various commercial ship refits ranging from tankers, bulkers and container ships to cruise liners prior to moving to Lloyds Register. I spent 15 years at LR where I was given an abundance of opportunities to broaden my career developing a strong set of both technical and commercial management skills. My varied responsibilities at LR led to me becoming the in-house expert on various technical areas including Statutory, Classification and Hull Design for floating offshore structures within the Oil and Gas sector. This gave me the opportunity to manage senior level client relationships for LR. Ultimately this led to a two-year period focusing on Business Development for the Renewable Energy division which was then still in its infancy. I have now been at Shell for over 10 years in various roles most recently based in London as Project Manager focusing upon Shipping and Maritime related Hydrogen and Ammonia projects. After moving back from Singapore my role within London has allowed me to use many of the skills, I have developed over my career including project management, delivering technical expertise, extensive and often complex stakeholder management as well as building further on business and technology development.More recently, the structure of Shell has meant that the focus has been on delivery and the management of multi-disciplinary teams. Outside of the core responsibilities however I do a lot of work supporting colleagues to develop their skills both from a technical perspective as well as softer skills. I have mentored younger engineers through their RINA and Chartered Engineer applications as well as being a sounding board talking through career options and helping them to manage any challenges within their current roles.

Listed skills include Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Maritime, Fpso, and 16 others.
