At Ubuntu, I'm responsible for establishing and building the business, technical and marketing partnerships with all the hardware Ubuntu supports. From servers in the cloud to small embedded IoT devices at the edge of the network, we work closely with our hardware partners to make sure Ubuntu is the best OS for their semiconductors and systems! We also work closely to partner on Openstack, Kubernetes and bare metal orchestration for our mutual customers.

Developed a business to build a consumer entertainment system that wirelessly distributes high definition video and audio throughout a home. This system included self-configuring wireless speakers and wireless displays, an innovative control mechanism and a secure content DVR/PVR device. Completed market and completive analysis for the system. Defined and documented product requirements for each component of the system. Developed distribution, pricing, and launch strategy.Defined protocols for efficient wireless multicast while still coexisting with 802.11a devices. Developed secure wireless transmission protocol. Brought stability to low and midrange products by removing dependence on consumer components. Redefined Invertex products to support Cacheflow’s markets and customers. Altered existing Invertex encryption hardware for emerging SSL acceleration market. Defined product security requirements for Cacheflow’s SSL products.Hired and managed a group of SW engineers to implement SSL and hardware accelerated encryption in the current product line. Hired and provided technical leadership to hardware engineers on PCB design, debugging, long-lead-time component replacement/redesign, DFT, DFM, and volume manufacturing troubleshooting. Assisted contract manufactures ramping up volume production. Worked with Chairman, CTO, and VP of Engineering, to define technological vision for next generation products.

Founded Invertex to supply networking vendors with carrier class hardware. Conceived Invertex’s line of network and security products. Defined product requirements for entire line. Researched market and competition. Forecast sales and set pricing. Managed both company launch and product launch including a product launch at Networld+Interop 1999. Built customer base of top networking vendors and startups in the security, firewall, VPN, SSL Acceleration and NAS markets.Hired and managed engineers working on device drivers, PCB layout and test. Qualified contract manufactures, negotiated contracts, and supervised CMs for entire product line. Managed stock and production schedule. Lead the successful negotiation of a merger with Cacheflow Inc (now Bluecoat Systems, BCSI) in late 1999. This deal was valued at over $20M. Invertex’s hardware platform became Cacheflow’s primary hardware platform for the entire low and mid-range segment.
