With teaching, nursing, hospitality and sales background I am pretty much a 'service' creature - from a background of farming/sales and nursing parents - not too surprising.Currently concerned at the 'civilised worlds' ethic of rampant capitalism and the cult of the personality and how this is impacting on every single one of us - very few positively. Greed at the top, vast differences in personal 'worth' (CEO salaries - the average wage), casualisation of the workforce, political ignorance (one step beyond apathy) - a mass of under-educated unemployable stupid people at the bottom - with time on their hands. Concerned for the new generations. What a bad ethic we are leaving them with. There's a lot of junk we buy that we don't 'need' and activities that are consummate greed (cruises, our obsession with 'gourmet' food, the obscene amount sent on Christmas decorations etc) and 'sinful' when what we spend on rubbish each year could feed a small nationConcentrating on the birds, the water, the sun and the bush for daily doses of what matters.Taken up community radio, choir and planting trees as a retiree (think global act local) and discovering I do in fact like some jazz (surprised me!)
