The development in over 3 years of working as a waitress and then making the transition to team trainer allowed me to lead the restaurant during peak hours to ensure customers are being attended to and service runs smoothly. This position has allowed me to deal with customer queries in a high-paced environment. The restaurant sector relies on strong communication in order to function correctly and efficiently. My experience of restaurants has allowed me to solidify my abilities as an efficient communicator in the workplace. Through my adult life, working in customer service and in a variety of settings has prepared me for different work environments and their fluctuating needs.

Working as a supervisor in retail prior to hospitality allowed me to manage sales, trends and team development. The monitoring of sales figures for the day and being trusted with cash handling showed my attention to detail and mathematical skills. Creating learning packs for new starters, that included product information and key selling points. Being allowed to run my own section and ensure customers received a pleasant experience were key parts of job which I took pride in. Working in retail and managing sales trends was a way to predict future product trends with what is excelling and what isn’t (This was done by looking at the year-to-date and month-to-date and season launches), this will help me in planning project deadlines whilst incorporating and supporting the business strategies.
