This position required that I prepare a detailed petrographic report for industry, with high-level descriptions of metamorphic and deformed rocks in this section. Included per thin section were the positive identification of mineral phases (supported by SEM-EDS analyses) as well as estimated mineral abundances, textural relationships, and descriptions of metamorphic and deformation-induced microstructures, and well as an estimation of metamorphic grade based on the presence of index minerals. Additionally, the extent and types of alteration were estimated. Lastly, the collection of thin sections were considered all together and an interpretation was given as to their collective metamorphic grade, and how the samples were likely altered.

PhD project in geology at the University of Johannesburg, under the main supervision of Prof. Jeremie Lehmann, investigating structural doming mechanisms in the south Central Zone of the Damara Belt, Namibia. This work combined a robust field-based structural dataset with THERMOCALC-based thermodynamic modelling, and monazite petrochronology (using U-Pb geochronology), to understand the Pressure-Temperature-time-deformation evolution of structural domes in the polydeformed, HTLP hinterland of the Damara Belt.

I coach junior level field hockey, specialising in junior goalkeeping.

I assist with tutoring and the running of undergraduate level geology practicals for the subjects structural geology, igneous and metamorphic petrology and sedimentology. I have also attended and assisted in undergraduate level field excursions.

I coach both goal keepers as well as teams (Grades 3-7) for hockey.
