Profile bio

About Robyn Paches

I am a problem solver who loves finding the best in people. I firmly believe there is no task too difficult for a well-motivated and passionate team – and I find incredible joy in discovering these matches. My values of trust, progress, respect, and integrity are key in achieving this. In my professional life as a Program Manager with Studentcare, I do this by finding perfect service matches for my dynamic student association clients. In my volunteer life, the boards I am proud to serve face different challenges daily. I work with my team to solve them quickly and in the best interests of the greater community. My career thus far has had no shortage of variety. From 2016-2018, I was the Vice-President Operations & Finance of the University of Alberta Students’ Union (UASU). ) I was thrust into the executive level of a $15 million organization at only 22 years of age through two successful elections by 29,000 of my peers. Afterward, I employed my entrepreneurial spirit to go independent. I began consulting as one-half of the partnership Paches + Nordell with Daria Nordell, a local design, marketing, and strategic expert. Together, we solved problems with our combination of business acumen and design-focused problem-solving. In late 2019, I began working for Studentcare – Canada’s largest provider of student health & dental plans. As a Program Manager, I work closely with a portfolio of 8 large post-secondary student associations ensuring they are sustainably serving their student’s health and wellness needs. Most recently, I have founded a startup, WorkSpace Coworking, with a close friend of mine. Outside of my professional career, I am a serial volunteer. I am the President of the Oliver Community League. Notably, I am project managing the Oliver community’s name change project – an ultra-complex initiative to find a new name for our community. I am entering my fourth season as a volunteer Ski Patroller. This combines my love of skiing, working with teams, and healthcare. I also am proud of my four years as a Volunteer Firefighter in Colinton, Alberta where I learned a lot of what I know about teams and leadership. Lately, I have rediscovered a passion for politics by playing a key role on a City Councillor & Mayoral campaign. My education includes a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Operations Management at the University of Alberta, supplemented by a Certificate in Leadership. In my personal life, I prioritize time with my partner, love reading, listening to music, and fitness - mainly alpine skiing, and powerlifting.

Listed skills include Logistics, Communication, Team Leadership, Organizational Design, and 17 others.
