Everyone deserves an equal footing in life, and I believe governments have an important role in making that a reality. For almost 20 years, I have been advocating for better policy in areas such as aged care, homelessness and migration. Policy advocacy is more powerful when you bring together diverse stakeholders to work towards a shared goal, and I love the work of building these big-tent coalitions. I also love developing politically astute strategies and building authoritative arguments to influence the policy-making ecosystem. In my work, I draw from my emotional intelligence as much as my intellect when trying influence stakeholders to move in a certain policy direction. But I always stay connected to my roots, drawing from the latest research evidence and critical thinking to find the best options for moving forward. My contributions have helped to create positive policy change in over 40 countries, and to secure key commitments by UN Member States as part of the Global Compact on Migration. My work on alternatives to detention provided a framework for policy discussions at the global level. My current role focuses on Federal Government policy in Australia in relation to aged care, housing, and charities. This includes contributing to the National Aged Care Alliance, the Everybody's Home campaign, and the Stronger Charities Alliance.
