I’m an organiser, a problem solver, system improver, project manager and holistic thinker. I am the go to person when people have a problem or a question. I am the person who just gets things done, even when you didn’t know they needed doing! I am a Project Manager in everything I do. Regardless of the title that I hold, I excel at managing timelines, conflicting priorities and deadlines, to somehow get everything over the line on time. My foresight enables me to plan in advance, while also managing the urgent tasks at hand. Combined with high numeracy, literacy and creativity, there is no challenge I can’t tackle. I have worn many hats – Project Manager, Executive Assistant, Operations Manager, Retail Manager and HR Advisor. Titles aside the jobs were all fundamentally the same. I performed the core tasks of the role, and then use initiative and analytical skills to see other potential projects and improvements. If I haven’t been given a challenge, it won’t take me long to identify some potential for improvement so that I can add unexpected value. I learnt a few key lessons early on in my career; - Things will go wrong, so it is critical to plan for the potential issues you foresee ‘may’ occur. Set up systems with clear measures in place to identify potential problems and easy processes to follow. With those essential elements in place, when the unforeseeable inevitably goes awry, you then have the time and resources to address the problem. - Assume you will forget – you are human. Have systems in place so you don’t need to remember, and then as a bonus you usually do anyway! Eliminate the element of human error wherever possible, so that when you make a ‘human’ mistake, you are able to learn from it and move on, rather than feeling flustered and panicked. I care and do what I can to help everyone succeed. I am only as good as the people I surround myself with. I want to help others to develop themselves and to take the next steps in their own professional development, by sharing the knowledge and skills I have learnt along the way, and learning together. If the team around me is engaged, then so am I.
