I fell into the healthcare business with my first “real” job while a young college student. While I explored other career options through my schooling, I found that nothing matched the dynamic mixture of the business of healthcare, or the commitment to service and people at Med USA. In the more than 20 years since, I have come to love our drive to support providers so that they can focus on caring for their patients, while helping patients navigate the complex and frustrating world of insurance.Recently, I was thrilled with the challenge to step back into an Operations role as VP of Hospital-Based Physicians. I enjoy finding innovative ways to increase the quality of our work and improve the bottom line for each practice. Over the last 6 years I was fortunate to lead an amazing team. Together we produced a decrease of over 50% in A/R Days for our clients, while improving net collections to an average of 90% or higher. All this while our client base grew an average of 62,000 encounters per year.Over the years I have been able to participate in almost every aspect of the revenue cycle. I developed, put into practice, and continue to oversee our Compliance Program to ensure that our commitment to the highest ethical standards is understood and maintained throughout the organization. Compliance regulations are often seen as burdensome, costly, and unnecessary, but they don't have to be! I love to share the vision of how “all these rules” are really about the protection of our patients, our clients, and every single employee. It can be a hard sell, but where's the fun if there is no challenge?I especially enjoy the opportunities I have to share my knowledge as a speaker. I am one of those strange people who actually enjoys public speaking. Through many years of both corporate and community speaking, I find myself simultaneously energized and educated through preparing for, presenting to, and, mostly, listening to a wide variety of audiences.I think that I enjoy this industry so much because it is ever-changing, requiring constant education and adaptation. From government regulations to new payment models to nonstop technology changes, I learn something new every day. I feel especially lucky to have been a part of Med USA for so long. Med USA has encouraged my growth while being incredibly flexible with my time. This has allowed me to raise my family and pursue other interests without slowing my progress or limiting my contribution.
