I accepted this position at a very tumultuous time in Advance Digital’s history. I was responsible for leading a group of 6 accountants in activities that ranged from booking Accounts Receivable for 11 local media groups, recording partnership revenue shares across the affiliates, and completing monthly revenue reports. This was done for 11 local media groups, but due to declining newspaper revenue and restructuring efforts, we were informed that the accounting department would be transferred from Jersey City to Delaware. The past 4 years were comprised of numerous training sessions focusing on processes and procedures that were integral to the transition while still trying to balance our own monthly workload. We successfully transitioned the Accounts Receivable and revenue functions for 11 local media groups even though our department was eventually downsized by 66%. This was accomplished by on-site training sessions with the new accounting department in Delaware and by providing clear documentation for each process. This helped create a very smooth transition.

I was responsible for booking the revenue related to 3 of our 11 affiliates. This included direct communication (via phone or email) with shared-revenue partners or newspaper management related to digital ad sales and running reports from various websites to get the needed revenue reports monthly. I completed monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations. The balance sheet reconciliations were used during our yearly audits. I provided the journal entry backup, such as system generated reports or detailed calculations, to support the accruals on the balance sheet.I ran monthly financials comparing revenue amounts (actual to budget & month to month). I provided explanations to management regarding variances above or below 10%.

I prepared footnotes for 10Q/K filings for Goodwill and Intangibles, Restructuring, and Prepaid Content.I also reviewed the daily wire activity for coding issues and proper documentation.
