Working out of the University Communications + Marketing central team I helped to create opportunities to elevate and amplify the impressive research stories of UVic. I was responsible for a collaborative support for science and engineer& computer science faculty Communications Officers. Together, we leveraged great people and their stories to generate media coverage around the world. I used several platforms to successfully manage content and track coverage, measure stakeholder engagement, build internal communications and encourage partnership/community involvement

I was the only private sector member of a committee set up to develop criteria and review for 10 $10,000 scholarships for Women in Technology and Indigenous Women in Technology. Really enjoyed helping to create a process that celebrated applicants who told stories around their hopes for the future. Irving K Barber Scholarship Society manages millions in funds to support academic success for Indigenous students in BC as well as Women in Technology.

Proud of the contribution I made in building Island Women in Science and Technology, a regional organization promoting active roles for women in science, engineering and technology. The overall goal was to create a strong peer community. There are currently over 400 members. As Chair I created opportunities for our members to meet and build relationships as well as representing their interests in the larger STEM community. On-going events include the Hatley Castle AGM/Holiday Breakfast, Better than Beer STEM Crawl and the annual Glo Patio Party. The peer community provides essential support for women who often feel isolated in their workplace or studies.

Respected organization focuses on helping veterans and seniors lead their lives with dignity.Broadmead Care works with its partners - Island Health, Veterans Affairs Canada and BC Housing - serves the community by meeting the health, social and housing needs of seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities. Broadmead Care is the primary provider of residential care and day programs for veterans on Vancouver Island.

I built a sustainable education and training business unit for the association. Members benefit from professional training and education programs and the revenue generated supports all VICA programs. The communications element focused on positioning VICA as a an advocate of the construction industry and to ensure all available channels (social media, publications, events, traditional media) were used to reach the community. I launched a program called "Welcome to the Construction Site" designed to help non-traditional candidates for construction jobs learn culture versus skills.My role included creating enduring relationships with partners, training providers, members and other associations across Vancouver Island in order to deliver amazing education opportunities.
