Residence Hall Association, National Communications Coordinator
As the National Communications Coordinator (NCC) I was responsible for attending monthly regional chats, weekly meetings, attending regional and international conferences, and taking a group of student leaders with me to the conferences. There are three conferences a year, each with a different culture to them. The first conference is a small regional spirit conference. This conference consists of students from all around the region coming together at a university to share event ideas, housing policies, and other on campus related topics. For this conference I was in charge of creating a application, selecting students, and creating cohesion within the group of students. I was in charge of managing the students, informing them of what to expect, and how to succeed at these conferences. At the second regional conference it is not as spirited and is important for the NCC's to attend. This conference is referred to as the business conference, were we conduct this meeting using Parliamentary Procedure also known as Roberts Rules of Order. At these meetings we would change regional policies, for instance, we voted to change all governing documents to be gender inclusive. (from him and her to them and they) At the last conference of the year I was in charge of selecting a medium sized group of students to take to the conference. Again I was responsible for selecting students, managing them, helping them, and providing cohesion for them. This conference is a larger scale student run conference, which consists of changing international polices within the organization. Again there is the element of sharing student resources across campuses.
