Mrs. Odita has dedicated over 20 years of her career to encouraging and mentoring minority- and women-owned business enterprises so they can succeed in the construction industry. Her passion is for the development, communication, and implementation of policies, strategies and initiatives that support a diverse contractor base. Currently Mrs. Odita is Tishman Construction Corporation’s Affirmative Action Manager for the M/WBE program at the World Trade Center Vehicular Security Center and Tour Bus Facility. She is responsible for meeting – and, she hopes, exceeding – the Port Authority’s goal of 12% participation by minority businesses and 5% by women-owned businesses.Since joining Tishman Construction in 2006, Mrs. Odita’s primary responsibilities have been the management and implementation of the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority M/WBE program. In the course of the Goldman Sachs new corporate headquarters project downtown, Tishman awarded over $300 million in contracts to M/WBE firms. Under Mrs. Odita’s leadership, Tishman exceeded Battery Park City’s 25% M/WBE participation goal by 7%. Mrs. Odita also ensured that more than 33% of all of the hours worked in the construction of the building were worked by women and minority trades people. These achievements made 200 West Street the most successful project in the history of New York State’s M/WBE program. This success was recognized earlier this year by Governor David A. Paterson, by the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority, and by the National Minority Business Council.Prior to joining Tishman Construction, Mrs. Odita was Program Director of Contract Compliance for the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors, where she implemented and managed M/WBE programs for various clients, including Continental Airlines; Port Authority of NY&NJ; the Hudson County, NJ Schools Construction Corporation; the State of Connecticut; and the New York Jets.
