About Robyn Stuhr

I have had the privilege of serving the American College of Sports Medicine in a leadership role - to advance the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) global health initiative. Exercise is Medicine aims to make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care, connecting health care with evidence-based physical activity resources. In that role, I was responsible for creating, writing, editing and providing design direction for multiple EIM resources for patients, health care providers and exercise professionals as well as as the EIM website (www.exerciseismedicine.org). I worked closely with subject matter experts and adapted content using health literacy principles focused on the intended audience. I supervised staff who managed our global network and EIM On Campus programs and contributed to program planning for our national conference.With broad experience as a program director and clinician in sports medicine and health promotion, I’ve launched, managed, and promoted innovative programs to serve athletes, corporate clients, patients and the public. I thrive on building high-functioning teams, as well as driving business via marketing and community partnerships.I love what I do, and am a people motivator and connector. I believe in a collaborative style of leadership, where every member feels valued, can contribute, and becomes invested in the business and the team. I’m skilled at identifying talent and making outstanding hires...choosing the right people gets you 90% of the way there! Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) is a global health initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) that is focused on encouraging primary care physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity when designing treatment plans for patients and referring their patients to qualified exercise programs/resources and exercise professionals.As Vice President, I supervised all EIM activities including 9 ACSM member committees, the EIM Global Network, the EIM On Campus Program, the EIM World Congress, EIM Emerging Leaders and EIM Ambassadors program. I worked extensively with teams of subject matter experts, members and staff to update and create an extensive library of EIM online resources for health care providers, patients and exercise professionals. I also worked with over 40 subject matter experts and an online design team to create a new 15-hr interactive EIM online course for exercise professionals. I guided the updating of the EIM website as well as produced a monthly EIM e-newsletter to more than 10,000 subscribers. Under my leadership, traffic and downloads to the EIM website increased significantly, with key national organizations adopting and promoting EIM materials. I worked closely with the EIM Governance Board to create a strategic plan for the initiative based on continuous improvement science and guided my staff/members teams in executing the tactics and measuring key performance indicators. It was my privilege and honor to guide Exercise is Medicine during my tenure.

Coordinated a multi-disciplinary team of sports medicine specialists; led strategic planning for the development of a comprehensive sports medicine program; conducted marketing activities and website development; established and managed strategic community outreach/partnerships; coordinated athletic event coverage; and managed CME conferences. In addition, presented lectures and served as a consultant on physical activity for health. As liaison to the United States Olympic Committee National Medical Network, developed the system and coordinated all facets of athlete care (350+ athletes over 2 years) throughout a complex health system. Leveraged the marketing value of the relationship, including educational collaborations, sports event coverage, and an online video concept/creation. Pioneered the innovative “athletic trainer as physician extender” model in the sports medicine practice, which increased both patient and provider satisfaction. Provided design concepts and oversight for the construction of a contemporary, non-hospital-like 9,000 sq ft sports medicine clinic that opened in August 2015. Worked directly with the corporate marketing department, provided direction for its sports medicine marketing efforts and ad campaigns, including content and website development, art direction, sponsorship evaluation, negotiation and activation, responding to media interview requests, and arranging for representation via medical coverage and onsite marketing presence at athletic events.  Developed a relationship between UCSD Athletics and the Orthopaedic Surgery department  Formed a sponsor partnership with the Athletes for Injured Athletes Foundation and its educational outreach program, “Athletes Saving Athletes,” to promote sports safety. To date, the program has reached over 5,000 high school athletes and saved 6 lives.
