As the Walsall Deaf Heritage Project Officer at Zebra Access, I am responsible for managing initiatives aimed at collecting, preserving, and promoting the history of the Deaf, Deafblind, Hard of Hearing, and Deafened communities in Walsall, West Midlands, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.Key responsibilities include but not limited to: Developing and implementing project plans to achieve specific objectives related to heritage preservation, conducting research to gather historical materials and ensure their digital preservation, advocating for the recognition and inclusion of Deaf history in broader cultural narratives, preparing detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders to communicate project progress and outcomes, collaborating with team members and community stakeholders on data collection and analysis, organising events and workshops to raise awareness of Deaf heritage and encourage community participation, managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure project sustainability and success, monitoring and evaluating project impact to inform future initiatives.

In my previous role as a research assistant, I worked on a project assessing the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of a home-based intervention aimed at supporting early development in deaf children in South Africa. I was involved in Workpackage Two of this collaborative research project, which was a partnership between the Centre for Deaf Studies (CFDS) at the University of the Witwatersrand and Social Research with Deaf People (SORD) at the University of Manchester. My key responsibilities included collecting and analysing data to adapt and implement the Early Learning Outcomes Measure (ELOM) assessment tool specifically for deaf children in South Africa.

I oversaw course planning, development, and execution, coordinating team members, monitoring participant progress, providing support, and evaluating and improving the course as needed. I developed written and visual course content and materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and suitable language, and adapted resources for online learning. I conducted online sessions, engaged with participants, guided and supported SASL learning, provided feedback and assistance, and fostered a collaborative online learning community.

In my previous role, I coordinated projects at the Centre for Deaf Studies, including workshops on Gender-Based Violence, Mental Health Awareness, and the Deaf Community in South Africa. I organised strategic meetings with external organisations to enhance project impact and collaboration. Additionally, I managed administrative tasks, coordinated workshop logistics, conducted engaging SASL sessions for diverse learners, and conducted research in SASL and Deaf Studies to create accessible educational materials.

I contributed to social media strategy and content creation, managed various platforms, and used various design tools (Photoshop and Canva) and video editing software (iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere Pro).
