Hi, I’m Dr. Rob Zoppa.I started out as a Family Physician in a small town in Manitoba, Canada.I opened a full-service practice and enjoyed working hard to build a great reputation.But I did not anticipate the changes that this would bring. I worked so hard for my patients and everyone around me but I wasn't conscious of my internal barometer. I went over and above for everyone and expected too much of the people around me. But life and relationships don't work like that.I was working at my capacity. Beyond my capacity. I would work 24 hours a day at times. I said yes to everything and everybody. Putting too much effort in in a broken system got to me. It ruined my home life. To cope with the tremendous guilt of leaving my family, I turned to medication.As my first marriage dissolved, I lived in fear that everyone would find out and judge me, especially as I quickly got into a new relationship.I threw myself into work even harder to try and redeem myself, which resulted in workaholism.Work became another way to escape others’ judgement and distract me from the guilt.When a patient left a bottle of Percocet on my desk, I felt I had nothing else to lose.I developed addictive behaviours to cope with exhaustion and the pressure I put on myself. I watched with dismay as others pushed their patients in and out in 10 minutes or less and I picked up the pieces. I became angry, resigned, and hopeless, all at the same time. This is when everything began to spiral out of control.I made some bad decisions. Accusations were made some true and some not. I lost my medical license, the worst nightmare of any doctor. This turned out to be helpful for me to regain my sense of balance and self. I discovered that I’m important as a person, not just as a worker, doctor, and provider. However I do still take satisfaction from providing well for my family. I stopped causing constant heartache to my loved ones. Now, I spend every day learning, growing, maturing, living, studying… in ways I never have before.I have learned so many things that can be a great help to others, in emotional and financial arenas.I specialize in helping people with the things I desperately needed help with when had nowhere to turn: recovering from burnout, addiction, and hopeless vicious cycles.I have discovered great satisfaction in learning about sales and marketing and online business, as well as finance, from experts.
